Website Design Example: My Yardsale Mapper

Albany, OR • Built 2026

My Yard Sale Mapper was created to solve a problem I ran into almost every weekend. When planning a garage sale route, I would collect addresses from Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, community groups, and local listings. Once I had a list of destinations, figuring out the most efficient order to visit them was surprisingly difficult.

I developed this web application to simplify the process. You can enter garage sale addresses, estate sales, thrift stores, antique shops, and other destinations, then view them all on an interactive map. The application can either preserve the user's preferred stop order or automatically calculate an optimized route to reduce driving time and distance.

Additional features include suggested local stops, route sharing, saved routes, mobile-friendly mapping, and location-based planning tools. The goal is simple: help users discover more sales and spend less time zigzagging across town.

The application can be used to plan routes anywhere, but the current suggested destinations are focused on Albany, Oregon, and surrounding communities. Users can quickly add recommended thrift stores, antique shops, and other local stops to their route with a single click. As the platform grows, additional cities and curated destination lists may be added to provide the same convenience in other communities.

This project was built using ColdFusion, MySQL, HTMX, Google Maps APIs, and responsive design techniques to provide a fast and intuitive experience on both desktop and mobile devices.
